Romania’s Royal House asks for tax exemption on Savarsin estate

Proxies for the Romanian Royal House have filed a petition with the Savarsin Mayor’s Office demanding tax exemption on the local estate and buildings owned by King Mihai I.

Mayor Ioan Bodiceanu says the petition mentions King Mihai I’s capacity as war veteran qualifying him for such tax exemptions under Law 44.

The Royal Family’s tax exemption has not been applied yet because the Savarsin Mayor’s Office has requested clarifications over the use of the buildings on the royal estate that have not been added to the petition.

King Mihai’s 19.5-ha Savarsin estate comprises a castle and annexes.
