Rompetrol Rafinare has challenged, at the Constanta Court, the levy that DIICOT placed upon the company’s assets.
According to information posted on the courts’ web portal, Rompetrol Rafinare had a court hearing on Monday, in the case in which it challenged the levy, however the court postponed the hearing and set a new court hearing day for May 25, “in order for the criminal prosecution file to be attached and to offer the applicants the possibility of preparing the defence in what concerns the exceptions invoked.”
At the end of last week, DIICOT prosecutors placed a levy upon the Petromidia refinery, in a criminal case in which the way the refinery was privatised is being probed. This case was disjoined from the Rompetrol case in which late businessman Dinu Patriciu was also tried.
The levy was placed upon the tangible assets of KazMunayGas International NV, SC Oilfield Exploration Business Solutions SA and SC Rompetrol Rafinare SA, in order to recover RON 1,724,168,825, USD 290,786,616 and EUR 34,941,924.
