The Day of Military Financial Experts was celebrated on Friday at the seat of the “Carol I” National Defence University, with Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc attending.
According to a Defence Ministry release to Agerpres, Mihnea Motoc congratulated the ministry’s financial experts and told them that developments, progress and priorities in the Romanian military system, such as bringing the structure of the army and the management of its resources in line with NATO best practices, the acquisition of equipment / hardware critical for equipping the national forces, upgrading existing equipment and military hardware as well as increasing staff quality of life, directly depend on the quality of their work.
“Current macroeconomic developments oblige us to determination and persistence in ensuring the necessary financial resources for successfully carrying out the missions incumbent on our armed forces. A sound management of the financial resources allocated to defence is no less important, given that the tasks and goals of the army have not been downsized and objectively cannot undergo such downsizing without affecting national security,” Motoc said.
Friday, May 20 marks 125 years since, the Accountancy Control and Pensions 7th Division was set up in 1891 by Royal Decree No. 6625, in a landmark moment in the history of the Romanian armed forces.
