ANAF fined after releasing on internet list of individuals with overdue tax liabilities

The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) was fined 16,000 lei by the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP), following ANAF’s releasing on the internet the list of individuals with overdue tax liabilities higher than 1,500 lei.

According to a release posted on ANSPDCP’s website, ANAF has violated the provisions of Law 677/2001, as it processed and published on an internet site other than its own page a list of individuals who failed to pay their outstanding tax liabilities, with the defaulters ordered by the amount of debt, yet the figures were not accurate and updated according to the latest situation of certain individuals having made progress with the payment of their debts compared to the published list.

ANAF is also held responsible for failing to completely inform the persons whose personal data were published on May 16 by mail notice, or information published on the institution’s website.
