A Russian citizen wanted by Russian authorities for abuses of office that incurred an estimated damage of 2,675,000,000 Russian rubles (nearly 36,000,000 euros) has been located by Romanian police officers.
The Romanian General Police Inspectorate (IGPR) says in a press statement released on Thursday that officers with the Criminal Investigation Directorate on May 23 located a Russian national on whose name a red notice, the equivalent of an arrest warrant for extradition, had been issued for frauds of serious consequences and abuse of office.
The man is standing accused of having used his capacity of business associate or administrator to swindle Russian companies out of 2,675,000,000 rubles (nearly 36,000,000 euros).
He was arraigned to the Bucharest Ourt of Appeal, who ordered him under 30-day pre-trial detention, pending a ruling on his extradition.
