Agriculture minister orders control on online applications for 453 million euros

Agriculture Minister Achim Irimescu ordered the ministry’s control body to check the online application system of the Agency for Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR). Verifications start on Monday, following complaints on the quick stalling of the system after its opening, with funds exhausted within minutes, he told Agerpres on Friday.

On Wednesday, the AFIR announced that the 24,44 million euros funds available for the agricultural access infrastructure were awarded to 25 projects six minutes after the 9am opening; 46 projects for the mountain road infrastructure got 45 million euros, and 107 projects shared 105.8 million euros for other roads. A total of 453 million euros are theoretically available for all the relevant categories until 31 October, unless the awarding is completed earlier.
