Romania’s households paid the lowest average price in the EU for natural gas (3.4 euro per 100 kWh) in H1 2015, less than half of the EU28 average (of 7.1 euro per 100 kWh), shows data released on Friday by the European statistical office (Eurostat).
Romania’s household electricity prices count among the lowest in the EU, standing at 13.2 euro per 100 kWh; prices were lower in Bulgaria (9.6 euro per 100 kWh), Hungary (11.5 euro per 100 kWh), Lithuania (12.4 euro per 100 kWh), Malta (12.7 euro per 100 kWh), Estonia and the Czech Republic (both with 12.9 euro per 100 kWh) and Croatia (13.1 euro per 100 kWh).
In the European Union, household electricity prices rose by 2.4 percent on average between the second half of 2014 and the second half of 2015, to reach 21.1 euro per 100 kWh.
Between the second halves of 2014 and 2015 household gas prices in the EU went down by 1.7 percent on average to reach 7.1 euro per 100 kWh.
