Sulfina Barbu: Dragnea asked Ponta to warm up to take over Premier’s office in autumn

PSD wants to appoint Victor Ponta Premier come this autumn, PNL Vice President Sulfina Barbu stated on Sunday, pointing out that PSD is planning to take hold of all power by maintaining Tariceanu in the office of Senate Speaker and removing Zgonea from the office of Lower Chamber Speaker.

“For a month now Mr. Dragnea has asked Ponta to warm up in order to become Premier in the autumn. Ponta was right that it will be owe unto Romania if PSD’s nefarious plan succeeds. (…) On Friday, Mr. Ponta started signalling that he is preparing a new PSD-ALDE government and that he expects to be appointed Premier again,” PNL Vice President Sulfina Barbu stated at a press conference.

Sulfina Barbu stated that PSD is seeking to get hold of power by maintaining Tariceanu, a criminally prosecuted politician, in office at the Senate and by “removing” Lower Chamber Speaker Valeriu Zgonea.

“The PSD plan is starting to surface, namely that this party is seeking to take hold of all power in Romania. The plan is simple, they are keeping Mr. Tariceanu at the helm of the Senate, they do not care that the person holding the second-highest office in the state is a criminally prosecuted politician. All it matters is for this office to be secured through a man that responds to orders. They removed Mr. Zgonea who was showing signs of independence from Dragnea. They don’t care that they are breaking the Regulations, all it matters is for the office to be theirs and they are doing all this in order to try to impose a Premier that would protect them from the DNA offensive. That Premier is Victor Ponta,” Barbu claimed.
