Romania is 7th among European countries that have signed up for the UberPITCH challenge, in a tie with Netherlands and Denmark, with more than 120 ideas pitched. United Kingdom is first (over 500 ideas pitched), followed by France (over 350), Italy and Sweden (over 210), Spain (over 190), Portugal (over 180) and Poland (over 145).
UberPITCH is taking place in 37 cities in 21 European countries. In Romania, the project is taking place in partnership with Impact Hub Bucharest and TechHub Bucharest.
The UberPITCH challenge offers European entrepreneurs the opportunity of receiving advice for their business ideas, from known local entrepreneurs, at the push of a button.
Those selected will then receive information on how they will be able to order UberPITCH on June 1.
The local entrepreneurs who will assess the ideas pitched in Romania are: Oana Craioveanu, Impact Hub Bucharest Director and Co-Founder; Bogdan Iordache, Co-Founder ‘How To Web’ and TechHub Bucharest; Andrei Pitis, Vector Watch Founder and CTO, Andrei Ostacie, investor, owner and marketing manager OkapiStudio; Sergiu Negut, Business Angel and Associate Dean of Entrepreneurial Growth at the Maastricht School of Management Romania.
A jury made up of Uber representatives, partners and local entrepreneurs will select the best ideas from all participating countries. The selected participants will go to Berlin, on June 8-9, where they will discuss their ideas with Uber Founder and CEO Travis Kalanick.
