The largest book show in Romania kicks off

The 11th edition of the Bookfest International Book Show takes place from June 1 to June 5, in the C1, C2, C4 and C5 pavilions of Romexpo, in Bucharest.

Along with the country which is the Guest of Honor, namely Israel, more than 200 publishing houses are present at Bookfest 2016. The 5 days program includes over 300 events, from launchings and debates to film screenings and interactive events.

Bookfest 2016 is held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.

Important personalities of the cultural life will launch their latest editorial materials. Gabriel Liiceanu, Andrei Oisteanu, Vladimir Tismaneanu, Andrei Plesu, Adrian Cioroianu, Lucian Boia, Mircea Cartarescu, Dan C. Mihailescu, Radu Paraschivescu, Ioana Parvulescu, Ana Blandiana, Mircea Cosea, Ioan T. Morar, Ileana Vulpescu, Mircea Dinescu, Ion Caramitru and Alex Stefanescu are only a few of the names who confirmed their presence at Bookfest.

Simultaneously to the Bookfest international Book Show, Bookfest Junior 2016 is organized in association with Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research.

Bookfest Junior 2016 is a program of specially designed events for children and teenagers, being an opportunity for them to meet the publishers, the authors and the illustrators. During a period of 4 days, there will be organized over 40 events, book launchings for kids and teenagers, meetings with authors, drawing and storytelling workshops, contests of literary creation, cartoon screenings and puppet theater. Visitors are awaited with discounts from 20 to 70 percent for children and teenagers and many other surprises, presents and raffles.

Last but not least, the contest of the edition will be announced: “Win 100 books for your holiday”; the books will be offered by the publishers participating at the Bookfest Junior 2016.

The coupon for the contest can be cut from the program-map of the Bookfest Junior 2016, available at the entrance, an can be submitted in the ballot box located at the Bookfest Junior Club (Pavilion C1, at the balcony). Extracting the two winners will take place on Sunday, June 5, at 4.00 pm, in the Bookfest Junior Club stand.

Access will be free at Bookfest and at all the events within it.

The visit program will be as follows: Wednesday, June 1: 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.; Thursday, June 2: 10.00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday, June 3rd: 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; Saturday: 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; Sunday: 10.00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
