Waste is collected from 23 Romanian cities in a 2.3 million euros project presented on Tuesday by the managing company GreenTech.
The project, implemented from last November until April, got 1.09 million euros financing from Innovation Norway, a Norwegian government instrument, in a programme for ‘Green Innovation in Romanian Industry.’
GreenTech reported that 35 trucks, 25 waste compactors, four cars and 25 forklift were purchased for the Sigurec Mobil waste collection system, which also provides traceability to the recycling facilities of project partners Greentech, Romcarbon, Greenweee, Greenlamp Reciclare, Greenglass Recycling, Ecopaper, Vrancart and Can-Pack Romania. It will collect 15,210 tonnes of recyclable waste per year from retailers, hotels, restaurants, industrial customers, office buildings and households. It will also offer at least 70 new jobs, the project managing company assured.
GreenTech, part of the Green Group, established in 2002, has grown into a major plastic recycler in southeastern Europe, with facilities in Romania, Serbia, Greece and Macedonia. It processes 130,000 tonnes of PET plastic packages per year.
