Congratulatory message of Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Italy’s National Day: The relation that defines Romania and Italy is now stronger than ever, bound by Latin roots and common values

On the occasion of the National Day of the Italian Republic, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends the warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Italian people.

The relation that defines Romania and Italy is now stronger than ever, bound by Latin roots and common values which have facilitated the development of a long and rich tradition of cooperation on multiple fields, through a constant and active dialogue on all levels: bilateral, European and international.

The Consolidated Strategic Partnership between Romania and Italy, as well as the frequency and variety of the bilateral contacts contribute to maintaining the top-level of our relation and to enhancing the political and economic dialogue between our two countries.

A key element of our relation is undoubtedly the presence of a strong Romanian community in Italy, an element of cohesion for our two countries. The Romanian citizens represent the largest foreign community in Italy and bring their substantive contribution to the social and economic welfare of Italy. We reiterate our strong appreciation for the support given by the Italian authorities for the integration of the Romanian community living in Italy.

At the same time, the equally important role played by the Italian community in Romania is further proof that Romania and Italy share nowadays a unique relation.

The strong and dynamic relation between Romania and Italy is also confirmed by the growing interest of the Italian entrepreneurs to invest in Romania and the consistency of our economic relation. Last year, Italy continued to remain Romania’s second largest trading partner and the first foreign investor, according to the number of companies registered in Romania.

No doubts that the privileged framework of cooperation Romania and Italy have built over time should be further expended, using the important opportunities provided also by the common membership to the Euro-Atlantic structures.

At EU level, we have a solid dialogue, based on many convergent interests. Today, when the EU is faced with numerous internal and external challenges, our common interest is to act together, all 28 Member States, to find the most efficient answers.

Motivated by this principled approach, Romania and Italy support a series of initiatives for achieving a greater European integration. Strengthening the EU construction through a consolidated partnership between all Member States in a more united and cohesive Europe is a common objective that motivates us to increase European cooperation.

Happy National Day Italy! Auguri Italia!
