Gov’t Spokesman: Ordinance on public employees’ pay underway for endorsement; we want to approve it in Wednesday meeting

The ordinance on the public employees’ pay scheme was forwarded to the ministries for endorsement, and will be approved in the Government meeting on Wednesday, Executive spokesman Dan Suciu announced.

“The ordinance was forwarded for endorsement to the other ministries, which will give their approval these days. We want to have it ready in the Government meeting on Wednesday and approve it in the version you already know, as presented by the Labour Minister at the press conference on Tuesday evening, included,” the Government spokesman pointed out in a briefing at the Victoria Palace.

Suciu underscored the Executive’s availability for new meetings with representatives of the education unions.

“We had this availability and we still have it. Yesterday [when the education unions rallied in a protest march] there weren’t any requests for these meetings. We started the process as such. The ministry is willing to hold any kind of discussion with the unions, within the budget limits and the structure of the ordinance which has already been presented,” Suciu explained.

He drew attention that trade unions in various activity areas requested the urgent approval of this ordinance.

At the same time, asked whether the ordinance could still undergo changes, Suciu said that the document is valid, but anything is possible.

“I do not wish to anticipate, anything is possible, but we think that the document is valid and places healthcare and education as priorities, even of not in the calendar all union movements would want,” the Government spokesman showed.
