Study: Romania, 77th in a ranking of gender inequality. Women in Romania have made significant progress, including in business

Elite Business Women and The National Romanian Entrepreneurs Association (Asociaţia Naţională a Antreprenorilor) organize the conference “Noi am reuşit, 1 an de antreprenoriat autentic românesc” (“We did it! – one year of Romanian authentic entrepreneurship”), which will take place on June 10, 2016, starting 18.30, at the Romanian Cultural Institute.

The event is organized in the context of the publication of a new study by the World Economic Forum, showing that the gap between men and women will permanently disappear only after 118 years, while Romania ranks 77th out of 145 countries in a ranking of gender inequality. The study focuses on international economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, life expectancy and political power. The Conference “Noi am reuşit, 1 an de antreprenoriat autentic românesc” (“We did it! – one year of Romanian authentic entrepreneurship”) aims to promote women leadership and gender equality, provide access for women to the business environment and present successful models.

Specialists from Elite Business Women state that women in Romania have made very important steps in the last decade, in order to reduce this gender gap and Romanian women need more confidence in their our own forces to close the social gap much earlier than expected accordin to the international survey. “Nowadays, women in Romania have managed to match or even exceed men in important domains, such as educational attainment or managerial performance in business and the only chapters they encounter some real issues are closely related to political representation – legislation, Government or Presidency level, “explains Bianca Tudor, president of Elite Business Women.

The event will debate topics such as current context of women entrepreneurship in Romania, problems that women may experience as an entrepreneur, woman entrepreneur models and how they managed failure, useful tools for women entrepreneurs etc.

The conference brings together women entrepreneurs, supports a community of efficient and profitable business and addresses female entrepreneurs, or those who want to become entrepreneurs, but also career women and men. The event will be moderated by journalist Eli Roman. Among speakers: Cristina Chiriac (President of the National Association of Entrepreneurs), Sigina Luca (coordinator of two businesses in the planning and organization of events and cleaning services), Anca Bălaşu (Senior Product Manager, Team Products and Processes Micro Transactions and Investment, Directorate Micro Products & Segments) and Oana Marinescu (Expert in Strategic Communication & Public Affairs).

The national conferences “Ele au reusit” / “They did it” have been organized in 5 cities – Bucharest, Constanta, Cluj-Napoca, Rm. Valcea, Brasov, with a total audience of over 1,000 people and has been supported by more than 100 partners and 54 speaker.
