We are Museums is an event dedicated to the professionals in the culture field who are concerned of their future. From June 6 to June 8, 300 representatives from 15 countries will gather in Bucharest, an ascending European Capital, for three days of discussions, recommendations and presentations which are meant to bring a change.
We are Museums is a network which brings together professionals from the museum and culture field, creative industries, cultural start-ups, business, institutions, aiming to redefine the way in which museums convince, accept, challenge and integrate new actors in their ecosystems. By encouraging the development of certain abilities, the active participation and the changes of experience, We are Museums is a real partner for those who wish to make a change and who are not afraid to start a conversation.
The project We are Museum was launched at Paris and Berlin and it includes annual events and projects. Reaching the fourth edition this year, the network will gather 40 guests from 9 countries, symbolizing the diversity of the innovation in the museum field and holding presentations at the National Museum of the Contemporary Art, which is located into the Parliament’s Palace, the largest building in Europe. Guests are representatives of some prestigious institutions, such as Van Gogh Museum (Netherlands), Versailles Palace (France), Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (USA), Tate (UK), Polin Museum (Poland) and many others. They will bring inspiration and practical information to an audience consisting of 300 representatives from 15 countries.
The project We are Museums 2016 is organized in association with the National Network of Romanian Museums, which is a local facilitator, a partnership which is possible thanks to the support of the French Institute, British Council, Polish Institute, the Embassy of the Netherlands and Goethe Institute. The project is also supported by the Minister of Culture and by NEMO – The Network for the European Museums Organizations.
For the first time this year, We are Museums will be extended to three days by organizing the “Museum Rocket” event, the first fair dedicated to the young entrepreneurship and to the museums. Dedicated to all the cultural entrepreneurs in Europe, Museum Rocket is held by Unicredit Bank and ARCUB – The Cultural Center of Bucharest Municipality, in partnership with the ORICUM Association, an Romanian NGO facilitating the development of the creative industries.
The event will take place on June 8 and it will include presentations, meetings and recommendations at The Ark Bucharest, a representative location for the creative young people in Romania. Museum Rocket will grant an award for acknowledging the remarkable potential in the cultural entrepreneurship.
