LabMin Pislaru: Gov’t passes public pay ordinance benefitting more than 650,000 employees

The Government on Wednesday passed an emergency ordinance on public pay that regards more than 650,000 public employees in the central public administration, Labour Minister Dragos Pialaru told a news briefing at the Government House.

“Let us not forget that this ordinance (…) is about people that have showed us their frustrations with the system, who expressed their encouragement to us to fix the dysfunctions. What is it that we are doing today by passing the emergency ordinance? (…) We are trying to rectify some inequities, to fix some major dysfunctions that have amassed for years in the public pay system after a failed attempt in 2010 to get a framework law that has never been applied, although it could have been started and implemented long ago. We will not solve all the problems under this ordinance, but we do now what we solve, we know the data that support us and that more than 650,000 people in the central public administration will stand to gain from the provisions of this ordinance,” said Pislaru.
