Romania among EU states to see industrial production growing this April

Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased this April 1.3 percent in the EU and 1.1 percent in the euro area (EA19) compared to the month before, according to estimates from the statistical office of the European Union Eurostat released on Tuesday.
Among member states to see the highest increases in industrial production were Ireland (+6.7 pc), Portugal (6.4 pct), Estonia (5.9 pc) and Hungary (5.4 pc), while the most significant declines were recorded in Croatia (minus 2.8 pc), Lithuania (minus 2.7 pc) and Latvia (minus 2 pc).
Romania recorded in April an advance of 0.2 pc in the industrial production after a 0.8 pc rise the previous month.
In April compared to the similar period of 2015, industrial production increased by 2.5 percent in the EU and by 2 percent in the euro area.
The largest y-o-y increases in industrial production were registered in Slovakia (7.2 pct), Poland (5.9 pct), Slovenia (5.3 pct) and Hungary (5.2 pc), while the states to see a decrease in industrial production were Malta (minus 3.6 pc), Luxembourg (minus 2.5 pct), Lithuania (minus 1.3 pc) and Latvia (minus 0.5 pc).
In a y-o-y comparison, Romania recorded in April an advance of 3.4 percent in the industrial production, after having registered a 2 percent decline the previous month.
