Government to have new spokesperson

Dan Suciu will no longer be the Romanian Government’s Spokesperson, former journalist Liviu Iolu, who is currently state advisor, being set to replace him. Dan Suciu will allegedly return to the National Bank of Romania (BNR), news.ro claims.

On 20 November 2015, at Premier Dacian Ciolos’s request and with the acceptance of BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu, Suciu accepted taking over the office of Government Spokesperson and was also appointed secretary of state. According to government sources, at the time the agreement was for Suciu to stay in office until March.

A former journalist for ‘Banii Nostri’ and The Money Channel, Suciu had been appointed BNR Spokesperson in 2014, replacing Mugur Stet. Prior to that, he had been Government Spokesperson for a brief period in 2012, during the time in which the Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu Government was in office.

Former journalist Liviu Iolu was appointed state advisor at the Premier’s Chancellery on March 3, through a decision signed by Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos. At that time, Liviu Iolu had been working for ‘Adevarul’ daily since November 2012.

According to the Government’s website, at this moment Liviu Iolu is state advisor with public relations prerogatives.
