PNL could form electoral alliance with UNPR

UNPR President Valeriu Steriu stated on Thursday that he prefers his party running in the parliamentary elections as member of an electoral alliance. He has had meetings with several parties, including PNL. The Liberals have accepted this option, against the backdrop in which UNPR’s main favourite is PSD and PNL leaders have stated recently they rule out any kind of alliance with the Social Democrats.

“We are just at the start of these talks, there are feelers and, obviously, it depends on all options, there is also the option of running in the elections alone,” Steriu stated for RFI Romania.

Asked what option he favours, the UNPR President answered: “I would prefer an alliance. UNPR always takes part and is constructive in such alliances. The fact that six Districts and the City Hall were won in Bucharest this spring is due to a large extent to the contribution of UNPR members too.”
