DNA to probe PNL’s Marian Petrache for electoral fraud

National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors will probe PNL’s Marian Petrache for electoral fraud in relation to the local elections, after the case file was declined to DNA.

Ilfov County policemen had started to investigate electoral fraud suspicions and the Buftea Court Prosecutor’s Office declined the case file to DNA, Agerpres informs.

On June 11, PNL Ilfov President Marian Petrache stated at a press conference that it is normal for the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate if a complaint was filed against him in relation to the local elections, adding that if prosecutors discover he committed an offence he will bear the consequences.

“I find it natural for the Prosecutor’s Office to take note and investigate, it’s not a problem at all and I’m not comfortable remaining suspected of something. If the Prosecutor’s Office discovers I committed some offence, I’ll bear the consequences. They won’t discover that,” he stated.

Petrache made that statement when asked by journalists for his comments on the footage presented by the mass-media, footage in which he allegedly talks about shuttling voters to polling centres during the June 5 local elections.
