Philip Glass brings the cine-concert called “Dracula – The Music and Film” to the Bran Castle

For the first time, the famous American Oscar nominated composer Philip Glass, together with Kronos Quartet, winner of the Grammy Award, will come to Bran and in Bucharest to have a live performance, namely a unique show that was performed around the world: “Dracula – The Music and Film”.

Representations will take place on the 2nd of July at the Royal ark, Bran Castle, and on the 4th of July at the Summer Theater in the Herastrau Park.

Philip Glass is known for works like “Einstein on the Beach” or “The Voyage” and for the soundtrack of films like “The Hours” (2002), starring with Nicole Kidman and “Notes on a Scandal” (2006), starring with Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench.

“We could hardly wait to come in Romania, right in the place from were the myth of Dracula has started” is the message of the composer Philip Glass for the Romanian fans, posted on Facebook.

The “Dracula – The Music and Film” show brings together on the same stage the screening of the re-digitalized film Dracula (1931), having Bela Lugosi in the main role, and the soundtrack specially composed by Philip Glass for the film in 1998 and played live by the composer himself, along with one of the best ranked string quartets of the day, Kronos Quartet.

“It’s a story about passion and our dark side; the show breaks the conventions and creates an exceptional cultural experience. Dracula – The Music and Film was performed sold-out at the Los Angeles Opera, at New York and at London. In 2012, Universal Pictures included the show in the series of actions for celebrating 100 years of existence”, according to the Liveland organizers’ release.
