The Competition Council has authorised the economic concentration operation that will see B.S.A. International taking over SC Albalact SA, SC Raraul SA and SC Albalact Logistics SRL.
B.S.A. International is owned by B.S.A., the French parent company of Lactalis Group. In Romania, Lactalis Group markets dairy products locally produced by Dorna Lactate and Dorna, as well as imported dairy products.
SC Albalact SA produces dairy and cheese, while SC Raraul SA is a subsidiary of Albalact. SC Albalact Logistic SRL is an Albalact subsidiary dealing with merchandise transport operations.
The analysis of the economic concentration operation focused on the market of collecting, processing and marketing fresh milk, the market of processing and marketing UHT milk, the market of processing and marketing butter, the market of processing and marketing sour cream, the market of processing and marketing acidophilus dairy products, the market of processing and marketing cheese and the market of dairy products used in the National School Lunch programme.
Competition authorities have assessed the economic concentration operation from the standpoint of its compatibility with a normal competitive environment, in line with the regulations concerning economic concentrations. Subsequent to the analysis, the Competition Council noted that this operation does not raise significant obstacles in the path of effective competition on the Romanian market or on a substantial part of it through the creation or consolidation of a dominant position.
