Current absorption rate of EU funds goes up to 76.69pct in June

The current absorption rate of EU funds increased in June by 7.49 percentage points to 76.69 percent, for the 2007-2013 financial framework, according to data provided by the European Funds Ministry (MFE).

Thus, the value of expense statements sent to the European Commission (EC) stood at over 14.6 billion euros on June 30. In respect to the actual absorption rate, namely reimbursements from the EC, it went up 3.42 percentage points to 68.47 percent (13 billion euros).

For the Sectoral Operational Programme Increase of Economic Competitiveness, the current absorption rate stood at 90.02 percent. The figures for the the operational programmes are as follows: the Sectoral Operational Programme Technical Assistance – 97.71 percent; the Sectoral Operational Programme Environment – 77.45 percent; the Regional Operational Programme – 83.91 percent; the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development – 65.14 percent; the Sectoral Operational Programme Transport – 68.8 percent; and the Sectoral Operational Programme for Administrative Capacity Development – 98.66 percent.

December 31, 2015 was the final eligibility deadline for expenses made by beneficiaries, and June 30, 2016 – the one for sending to the European Commission and the audit Authority the last intermediary payment application.

Also, March 31, 2017 represents the date by which the final balance payment application and the final expense statement must be sent to the EC, through SFC 2007.
