Bucharest Mayor Firea loses celebrity gossip deputy mayor

Tudor-Tim Ionescu, also known as Tudy, announced his resignation from the office of Bucharest Deputy Mayor on Monday. He had been elected last week. He blamed his gesture on the “media campaign” he considers was unleashed against him.

“Seeing the media campaign unleashed against me on the basis of reasons that concern exclusively my private life of well over five years ago, I took the decision to resign from the office of Bucharest Deputy Mayor. I won this office with the support of my ALDE colleagues and of PSD, being elected by Bucharesters member of the General Council on ALDE’s party ticket, and I want to thank all of them,” Tudor-Tim Ionescu stated in a communique.

He claims that an episode from his private life should not have become an obstacle in the path of a public career.

“A private life episode from my past, a mistake, an episode that became known solely through the indiscretion of others and that caused no kind of damage to third parties cannot and should not have been transformed into an obstacle in the path of a public career,” Tudor-Tim Ionescu points out.

He says he took the decision in order not to affect his team and he took the commitment to prove what he is capable of through the projects he will accomplish.
