Cristian Busoi, PNL Bucharest’s new acting leader

PNL MEP Cristian Busoi will take over the leadership of PNL Bucharest, while Adriana Saftoiu will become the party branch’s First Coordinating Vice President. Elections for the leaderships of PNL’s Bucharest District branches will be organised in the last week of August.

After they withdrew him from the race for the Bucharest City Hall, because of the faux pas committed at the launch of his candidacy but also because he lacked electoral potential in the fight against Gabriela Firea, the Liberals are placing their Bucharest branch in the hands of Cristian Busoi after the branch’s leadership resigned because of the failure registered in the local elections.

After nominating him with great fanfare as its candidate for the Bucharest City Hall, PNL withdrew Busoi from the race because of a public relations faux pas but also because his electoral potential was dropping, Busoi not being sufficiently known by the electorate.

The decision was taken during PNL’s National Political Bureau meeting on Monday.

“It’s a decision adopted today and which puts an end to a temporary situation at the Bucharest branch. It’s a significant responsibility, it’s very difficult work,” Busoi stated.

The Liberal pointed out that the prerogatives of the branch’s coordinating first vice president will be established at PNL Bucharest’s first meeting, which will most likely take place on Thursday.

In Busoi’s opinion, the main opponent is PSD. Busoi stated he would like to discuss with USB a possible collaboration within Bucharest’s councils.
