Jilava Mayor, indicted by DNA

Adrian Mladin, the mayor of Jilava commune, located close to Bucharest, was indicted by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) on Monday for passive bribery, money laundering and perjury.

Company manager Constantin Marian, currently under pre-trial arrest, was indicted for active bribery, money laundering and forgery of deeds.

According to the indictment, Jilava Mayor Mladin agreed with Constantin Marian in 2010 that the latter and another person would set up a company in order to win public contracts awarded by the Jilava Town Hall for 18 local investment projects.

Prosecutors also show that levies have been placed upon the assets of the defendants.
