“We’re putting the band back together. (…) We’re on a mission from God”. The Romanian fans of blues can convince of the truth of this famous quote from the very successful movie “The Blues Brothers”, since The Original Blues Brothers Band, one of the most beloved bands in the world music landscape will make a great show in Bucharest in this autumn.
The concert of the legendary group of American musicians will take place on October 18, 2016, at the Palace Hall, starting at 8.00 pm.
Along with Steve Cropper „The Colonel” (guitar) and Lou Marini „Blue Lou” (saxophone), two of the founders of the band, there will also be present the current members of the group, John Tropea „Smokin John” (guitar), Leon Pendarvis „The Lion” (keyboard), Eric Udel „The Red” (bass), Lee Finklestein „Funkytime” (drums), Larry Farrell „Trombonius Maximus” (trombone), Steve Howard „Catfish” (trumpet), Rob Paparozzi „The Honeydripper” (voice and harmonica), Bobby Harden „Sweet Soul” (voice) si Tommy McDonnell „Pipes” (voice and harmonica), great musicians who have cooperated with international names, such as: Eric Clapton, Ray Charles or Patti LaBelle. We will have the opportunity to applaud them in this exceptional formula on October 18, at the Palace Hall, in a totally exuberant show.
The Original Blues Brothers Band were and still are headliners in the most important Jazz and Blues festivals in Europe, such as Nimes Fair in France, North Sea Jazz Festival in Netherlands, Pistoia Blues Festival in Italy and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. A special experience took place in Paris, where the band offered three nights of sold-out unique concerts, in the beloved Olympia Theater, where the chairs where removed for the first time in the hall’s history, in order to accommodate the large number of people.
The story of the band began in 1976, as a part of the American TV show Saturday Night Live, when the actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd founded a band for several sketches within the show. The project became one by itself and two years later the band released their first album, called “Briefcase full of blues”. They have shortly conquered Hollywood with the movie called “The Blues Brothers”, where they cooperated with representative name of the jazz and blues, like James Brown, Ray Charles or Aretha Franklin.
Tickets for the concert programmed to take place on October 18 at the Palace Hall, were put on sale at different prices, depending on the seat category, as follows: VIP – RON 300; 1st category – RON 200; 2nd category – RON 140; 3rd category – RON 90, and 4th category – RON 65.
Organizers announced a 20 percent discount for the presale period, namely until 08/01/2016.
