Green car sales surge by nearly 50pc in Q1

Sales of hybrid and electric cars advanced by 49.8 per cent in the first half of 2016, according to the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) statistics consulted by Agerpres. Their share of the new cars market was 0.6 per cent.
Sales figures were 60 green cars in June and 307 overall in Q1, up from 205 in Q1 2015.
By brands, the relevant market was dominated by Toyota (192 cars sold, up by 47.7 per cent year on year), followed by Lexus (73, up by 217.4pc YOY), BMW (13; no sales in the first half of 2015) and Land Rover (9, down by 35.7pc).
APIA figures show 495 green cars sold in Romania in 2015, up by 110pct YOY.
Overall, diesel cars still have a majority market share of 52pc, down from 54.9pc in Q1 2015.
