Uber announces the launch of uberX in Cluj Napoca, the heart of Transylvania, one of the most dynamic and innovative cities in Central and Eastern Europe. The service will be available to the people of Cluj and to the many tourists visiting the city, starting from the first week of August.
“The Uber application has already been downloaded and opened by thousands of people in Cluj. We have received hundreds of messages from drivers who want to become partners. Now we are happy to confirm we are coming to Cluj at the start of August. Our commitment to the local community is not only as safe and reliable transportation option for riders and a flexible economic opportunity for drivers. Uber loves Cluj Napoca and we are ready to contribute, along with local partners, to making Cluj Napoca even more dynamic and competitive than already is” said Nicoleta Schroeder, General Manager Uber Romania.
The exact date when the service will become available will be announced soon. Until then, drivers who want to become micro-entrepreneurs and start to earn money with their own car, are invited to register to become Uber partner on Uber.com
Uber is a flexible way to earn money for many partner drivers in Bucharest, who have diverse occupations: 37% are entrepreneurs or freelancers, 31% have full time jobs, while 22% are unemployed and drive with Uber while looking for a job. When asked why do they drive with Uber, 90% of them say they appreciate the flexibility and the extra money.
“I started out of curiosity and, of course, because I needed the extra income. I was very much excited about the idea of earning some money without the pressure and stress of a typical sales job. The freedom that you can have with this kind of “job” is the most rewarding. It offered me the opportunity to supplement my income in a very unconventional and flexible way” said Mihai, 35, an engineer who works in sales and drivers with Uber in his spare time.
