MP Oltean becomes co-defendant in overvalued land returning case

MP Ioan Oltean has been sent to court by prosecutors with the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) in a case in which also involved is former chair of the National Authority for Property Returning (ANRP) Crinuta Dumitrean over the award of compensations for an overvalued plot of land in the city of Pitesti that incurred damage of nearly 100 million lei.

In a press statement released on Friday, DNA says Oltean is standing accused of being an accomplice to abuse of office with serious consequences when a functionary wins for self or others ill-gotten gains, while Dimitrean is accused of abuse of office with very serious consequences.

There are eight more co-defendants in the same case, most of whom were members on the Central Board for Compensation Awards with ANRP at the time the time of commission.
