Scouting joint initiative by Gillette and Romanian Football Federation in the rural areas of Romania: “Performance Has a Future”

*The initiative aims to discover young talents from the rural areas and it will be present in localities from Moldavia, Muntenia, Banat and Ardeal

Rural areas represent an important source of talents for the Romanian football: 4 of the 10 Romanian football players most selected at the national team come from outside the cities. However, due to the concentration of the big football clubs and academies in the urban areas, talented young people from the rural areas have small chances to remark themselves during their junior period.

Gillette, in partnership with Romanian Football Federation (FRF), aims to increase young people’s chances from the rural areas aged between 10 and 14 years (14 included) to remark themselves and to have access to a sport training at the highest standards, through the initiative called “Performance Has a Future”. The project’s purpose is to identify talented young people, the little players of today who have the opportunity to turn into the great players of tomorrow.

The caravan is held under the FRF program “Together, We’re Football” and it takes place from August 2016 to May 2017. The first localities cover the rural areas from Moldavia, Muntenia, Banat and Ardeal; the Romanian Football Federation will continue the selections, thus covering the whole Romania until the end of the campaign, namely in May 2017.

From August to September 2016, Gillette caravan – “Performance Has a Future” will stop in:

–              Moldova Noua (county of Caras-Severin) – August 21, 2016;

–              Bascov (county of Arges) – August 28, 2016;

–              Jucu (county of Cluj) – September 4, 2016.

The fourth locality in which talented young people will be searched, will be directly selected by the Gillette consumers and it will be announced in the press releases section of the Romanian Football Federation. Also, the selection mechanism in each stage will be announced in the same section, as well as at the local level, through the representatives of the Football County Associations. The first four winners will be selected from the first four localities; the selections will be continued by FRF and another seven winners will be announced at the end of the campaign.

Selections will be organized by specialized FRF representatives and will be supervised by members of the relevant committees of the Football Romanian Federation. The campaign will be supported by Miodrag Belodedici and Jean Vladoiu, former international football players and members of the FRF Technical Commission, as well as by Ion Geolgau, FRF Scouting Department Manager.

To be able to be registered for the selection, the young football players must fulfill the following requirements:

–              To be aged from 10 to 14 years (14 included) until July 31, 2016;

–              To be accompanied by a tutor or a parent, as he/she has to give his/her approval for the participation, based on which the registration will be performed.

The eleven selected young football players will be rewarded with a journey to Barcelona at the end of the campaign and they will benefit from a professional cantonment along with the Romania national football team at the Mogosoaia National Football Center.

“The rural scouting project launched by the Romanian Football Federation within the program called “Together We’re Football”, represented a premiere and turned into a success. Starting from today, together with Gillette, we are developing a new step of the project and I am very glad that the involvement of a prestigious company is confirming the FRF team’s view and strategy. I am totally positive that following this selection process, we will discover young Romanian talented people and we will open a promotion platform for the future values of our football!” Razvan Burleanu, President of Romanian Football Federation stated at a press conference last Friday.

Since more than a century, Gillette respects its commitment to offer daily performance through the shaving machines used by more than 800 million men worldwide. Together with Romanian Football Federation, through the initiative “Performance Has a Future”, Gillette continues to support talented Romanian children.

“”Performance Has a Future” marks a new chapter in the cooperation between Gillette and Romanian Football Federation, after successful experiences, such as the initiatives called “Supporter Every Morning” and “The Future of the Romanian Football Is In Your Hands”, project that gave the opportunity to several young talented people to be remarked. We aim to support the Romanian football, and this new partnership with FRF is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of this sport in Romania. This thing is possible thanks to the Gillette consumers in Romania, to whom we offer the most performing daily shaving machines  ant to whom we are grateful for being with us in this initiative”, added Radu Dobrescu, Delivery Manager Shave Care (Gillette) – South-East Europe.
