In a Facebook post on Thursday, Romanian gymnast Catalina Ponor betrays her trepidation to take part in the opening of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Friday.
”Just a little bit of waiting! On Friday night, I will be bearing Romania’s flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, at the Maracana Stadium. A dream comes true! 🙂 Go, Romania!” says Ponor.
Ponor will be Romania’s flagbearer in Friday’s opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Romanian cyclist Serghei Tvetcov, who will be competing on Saturday in the Olympic Games, has twice voiced worries over his competition bicycle having not arrived in Rio yet.
”Really Air China want to destroy all my goals for Rio2016 ???!!!!! Hurry Up Air China!” Tvetcov says in a first Twitter post.
“Early morning breakfast in Olympic village before start fighting with airchina for my lost bike…,” Tvetcov says in a second post.
He confirmed to Agerpres that his competition bicycle was left behind in Beijing, where he trained for the 2016 Olympic Games, as Air China misplaced it. In the end, the bicycle and its case that also holds Tvetcov’s competition shoes, was found and sent to Paris. It is now expected in Rio on an Air France flight.
Tvetcov is currently training in Rio using a spare bicycle, but he is still hoping the competition one will arrive in Rio in due course.
He added that he will be competing on Saturday, no matter the denouement.
Tvetcov will be competing in the men’s road race on August 6. The favourites are the winners or competitors in the grand tours – France, Italy and Spain. The cyclists will be driving 256.4 km through exotic places such as the Ipanema Beach and the Copacabana Beach
