Summer Festival celebrates 110 years of holidays at Mamaia

The Summer Festival 2016 – COOLtural Carousel is launching on Wednesday night in the Casino’s Piateta (small plaza) an anniversary events cycle under the name ‘Mamaia – 110 years of holidays.’

According to the organizers, on 10 August the ‘Sufletel’ Theatre Company has scheduled on the Casino Piateta’s stage an interactive show for all-age children called ‘A fairytale world.’

On Thursday, 11 August, the organisers invite the audience starting with 7pm to the opening of the Tourist Tent of COOLtural Carousel ‘Discover Constanta’s Attractions.’ An art exhibition by plastic artist Gabriel Lungu will open, under the aegis of ‘Hospitable lighthouse’ Association and a map (completed by will display three tourist and cultural routes of ‘The 7 attractions of Constanta’ on the Historic Route, the Experiences Route and the Entertainment Route.

Thursday night will end in a movie screening in the presence of actor Horatiu Malaele. An evening of cinema experiences for the movie-lovers and not only, with two original Romanian features: ‘Happy funerals’ by Horatiu Malaele, and ‘Lie to me nicely 2’ by Iura Luncasu.

On Friday, 12 August, the Summer Festival fetches Ovidiu Lipan Tandarica, alongside Rona Hartner, Stelu Enache and Pantiru Brass (10 Prajini), Corneliu Stroe & Balkano band.

On 13 August 150 years of royalty will be celebrated. On this occasion, the organisers have prepared two film proofs signed Lucia Hossu-Longin and Eugenia Voda, and an exhibition in collaboration with Romania’s National Archives.

On Sunday, 14 August the festival’s producers propose a return to the origins of music and traditional dance, with a Dobrogea regal of inter-ethnic dances brought onstage by the Mahala Rai Banda dance crew.

Finally, on Monday, 15 August, the very day of Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Muzica Apelor brass band will concert for the delight of the audience.

Mamaia was and continues to be considered the Romanian pearl of the Black Sea resorts, Agerpres reports.
