Statistics: H1 turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses up 8.7 pct y-o-y

The turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses in H1 2016 was higher y-o-y expressed both as raw and workday and seasonally adjusted series, by 8.7 percent and 8.5 percent respectively, shows data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The advance in the turnover expressed as raw series is the result of growth in transports (+14 percent), communications (+7.4 percent), other services provided mainly to businesses (+5.8 percent), and computing and information technology services (+4.6 percent). Motion picture, video and television program production, program broadcasting and transmission activities dropped 2 percent.

The turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses was up 8.5 percent in H1 2016 from the same period of the year before (as workday and seasonally adjusted series), as a result of growth in transport activities (+12.7 percent), communication (+6.9 percent), other services provided mainly to businesses (+5.6 percent), computing and information technology services (+5.4 percent). Motion picture, video and television program production, program broadcasting and transmission activities dropped 1 percent.

The turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses was up 5.4 percent as raw series in June 2016 compared to the previous month as an effect of growth in other services provided mainly to businesses (+9.3 percent), transport activities (+7.8 percent) and communication (+0.8 percent). Conversely, motion picture, video and television program production activities, program broadcasting and transmission activities, as well as computing and information technology services decreased by 10.4 percent and 7.9 percent, respectively.

Expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted series the turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses was up 0.9 percent this June from the month before.

In a y-o-y comparison, this June’s turnover of market services provided mainly to businesses advanced 11 percent as raw series and 9.4 percent as workday and seasonally adjusted series.
