Fridge ownership in Romania, down to 53.6 per 100 households in 2015

Fridge ownership in Romania decreased in 2015 to 53.6 per 100 households from 55.5 in 2014, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) told Agerpres in an exclusive reply.

Ownership of freezers dropped from 21.5 per 100 households in 2014 to 21.1 in 2015. On the other hand, the number of fridge-freezer units increased from 47.5 per 100 households in 2014 to 49.4 in 2015.

According to data with the Ministry of Economy, Romania’s exports of such appliances between Jan-April 2016 totalled more than 110.2 million euros, up by 9.35 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports stood at 56.01 million euros, advancing 15.08 percent YoY, resulting in a surplus of over 54.2 million euro.
