Tax authority: Number of individuals with tax liabilities, down by over 60,000 in Q2 2016

The number of individuals with overdue taxes was down by 60,000 in Q2 2016 from the previous quarter, as 126,365 individuals were registered as of June 30 with total tax liabilities in excess of 3 billion lei, according to data released by the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF).

“The taxpayers with liabilities less than or equal to the amount they are supposed to receive in reimbursements or refunding have been left off the list of delinquent taxpayers,” ANAF officials said.

They also mentioned that the list of delinquent taxpayers released by ANAF have a new column headlined “Observations” that contains specifications regarding the legal status of the debtors, namely insolvency, bankruptcy or insolvability.

The National Tax Administration Agency releases every quarter lists of delinquent taxpayers, legal entities and individuals with overdue tax liabilities, as well as the amounts due as of the date of the release of the list, according to Art. 162 of the Tax Procedure Code.
