Romanian films and film directors at the International Francophone Film Festival in Namur

The most important francophone film festival in the world, whose 31st edition is organized between September 30 and October 6, 2016, will screen more than 140 films on the screens of the city of Namur (Belgium), which is its location since its inception (1986).

We have to mention that the participation of the Romanian filmmakers was always extremely honorable, and the awards, the famous Bayards, were granted to the films produced in Romania. This time also, Romanian cinematography has important representatives in each section of the festival. In the official competition of the features, the program includes “Doua lozuri” (“Two lottery tickets”) by Paul Negoescu, and “Ilegitim” (“Illegitimate”), directed by Adrian Sitaru. In the short film competition you may watch “Prima noapte” (“The first night”) by Adrian Tanase. The three filmmakers were also present at other editions of the festival. Two title will be screened in the section “Regards du présent”: “4:15 pm. Sfarsitul lumii” (“4:15 PM. The end of the world”), directed by Catalin Rotaru and Gabi Virginia Sargu, and “Ma cheama Costin” (“My name is Costin”), directed by Radu Potcoava. For several years, there is also present a section of videos. Its program will include “Violent Streets” by Mihnea Popescu.

We also underline that the film director and producer Tudor Giurgiu (photo) is invited in the jury of the main competition.

The festival will be opened with “La fille inconnue”, the most recent film of the famous Belgian filmmakers Luc Dardenne and Jean- Piere Dardenne. The guest of this edition at the event called “Coup de Coeur” is the actor Serji Lopez.
