Over 3,000 Romanian troops to participate in National Day parade

Over 3,000 servicemen of the National Defence Ministry (MApN), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) and the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), together with servicemen of several other countries will participate in the military parade organized on the occasion of the Romanian National Day, a release of the MApN shows.

The source mentions that Thursday, December 1, over 3,000 servicemen and specialists of the MApN, MAI and SRI, with over 300 vehicles, of which 50 aircraft, and servicemen from several allied or partner countries will participate, starting at 11:00hrs, in the military parade organized on the occasion of Romania’s National Day in the Triumphal Arch Square of Bucharest.

Foreign servicemen from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Italian Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Poland, the Slovak Republic, Spain and the United States of America will participate in the parade.

MApN also shows that also on Thursday, starting at 08:00hrs, a military and religious ceremony of laying wreaths will take place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Carol I Park.

“On the occasion of 1 December, representatives of the Romanian Army will participate, at the request and with the support of local administrations, in the preparation, organization and running of military parades, military and religious ceremonies of laying wreaths, meetings with military veterans and war veterans, exhibitions of military equipment and retreats with torches in some garrisons where large military units are deployed,” the release shows.

Furthermore, according to the MApN, on the occasion of the National Day, the national flag will be flown at all military institutions in the country and the sea-going and river-going ships of the Navy will be dressed overall. The servicemen on mission in theaters of war are carrying out military ceremonies and activities specific to the National Day.

Rehearsals for the military parade will take place on Friday, at 09:00hrs at the Ghencea Training Field and on Sunday at 08:00hrs in the Triumphal Arch Square.


Representatives of NATO member-states’ and partners’ armies, invited to Romania’s National Day celebrations


The  Government on Wednesday adopted a series of measures in support of the organisation of the national military parade of this year, including a proposal from the National Defence Ministry to invite representatives of armies of NATO member-states and partners to participate in the December 1 celebrations.

According to a press statement of the Government, servicemen from several allied and partner countries will take part in the celebrations alongside servicemen from the National Defence Ministry, the Internal Affairs Ministry and the Romanian Intelligence Service.

The National Defence Ministry will ensure, between 25 November and 2 December, the transport and billeting of foreign servicemen.

“The participation of these representatives in the national military parade reflects deepening cooperation relations between the Romanian Army and the armies of other states that have participated, over time, in bilateral activities, common exercises or missions in theatres of war,” reads the statement.
