Jan – Oct 2016 foreign direct investments up 34pct to 3.7 billion euro

Foreign direct investments totalled 3.7 billion euro in the first ten months of 2016, increasing over 34 percent compared to those registered in the same period of 2015, according to data the National Bank of Romania (BNR) released on Wednesday.

“Foreign direct investments of non-residents in Romania totalled 3.736 billion euro, out of which equity (including the estimated net reinvestment of earnings) amounted to 2.95 billion euro, and intercompany lending recorded a net value of 785 million euro,” the document reads.

Compared to the first nine months of the year, foreign direct investments went up 593 million euro, from 3.143 billion euro, to 3.736 billion euro.
