Romanian diplomacy hails election of European Parliament’s new President

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) hails the election of Antonio Tajani as the new President of the European Parliament.

The Romanian chief diplomat, Teodor Melescanu and the Minister-Delegate for European Affairs, Ana Birchall have sent congratulation messages to the high European official expressing their full dialogue and co-operation availability with the EP President, a MAE release sent on Thursday to Agerpres informs.

In his message, Minister Melescanu said that “the long experience and the proven dedication in advocating the joint European interests are a significant advantage in the current context, marked by several challenges in European plan.”

In her turn, Ana Birchall stressed that “the overtaking of the current challenges at European level needs leadership on the EU bodies’ behalf, on all of the pro-European political groups, as well as a coordinated action with the EU Member States towards a more united, more inclusive Union.”

At the same time, the MAE hails the election of the Romanian MEP, Ioan Mircea Pascu, as Deputy President of the European Parliament.
