Elena Udrea: Coldea’s retirement indicates that a damage has been caused to SRI

Former MP Elena Udrea (photo) stated on Wednesday, at the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) that Florian Coldea’s retirement demonstrates that a damage has been caused to the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), mentioning that she couldn’t prove her statements related to Coldea, but Ghita was “cautious”.

“There is certainly a problem at the level of the SRI institution related to Mr. Coldea, and this retirement definitely indicates that a damage has been caused to the institution, and until they’ll see if he’s guilty or not, they preferred to retire him.

The former MP claims that she hopes that her statements according to which her ex-husband Dorin Cocos would have told her that at Florian Coldea’s request, he gave 500,000 Euros to Sebastian Ghita to help him finance his TV channel, will also be taken into account.

“I believe it’s just the beginning, even if I see that the system tries to save itself by scarifying Coldea, and perhaps others, things will not stop here, because it’s too rotten and very many things are known. People will talk, many of them have evidences and it’s useless, they have actually destroyed a country. I believe my statements and other people’s statements will be taken into account. (…) This is Mr. Ghita’s victory now, since he proved that regardless of how skillful and able Mr. Coldea thought he is to rule even Romania, he was on Ghita’s hands, he filmed him, recorded him, made him pictures, false invoices, I mean… it’s embarrassing” Elena Udrea also said.

Being asked about the recordings in which the former Romanian President Traian Basescu speaks about interventions in certain files, Elena Udrea stated that Sebastian Ghita “is very cautious, he records everybody, including the President”.

Elena Udrea came on Wednesday to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, for a new hearing in the ‘Gala Bute’ case. At the hearing, four witnesses have been heard, of which one is her ex-husband Dorin Cocos.

Alina Bica: Given the current orientation of DNA and having Kovesi there, nothing will ever happen to Coldea

Alina Bica, former head of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), stated on Wednesday at the Supreme Court that nothing will ever happen to Florian Coldea, given “the current orientation of DNA and having Mrs. Kovesi there”.

I appreciate that Mr. Coldea should have been more seriously checked, given the number of persons that talked to him and what they did in two years. With the current orientation of DNA and having Mrs. Kovesi there, nothing will ever happen to Coldea in this country, regardless of what he will do” Alina Bica stated at the Supreme Court.

Alina Bica claims that her files began “from a person who couldn’t make the difference between personal resentments and the place she had to have”.

“Yes, from Mrs. Kovesi and Mr. Coldea, ‘cause I don’t want to forget him. (…) I wait him talk” Bica said.

The reactions of Elena Udrea and Alina Bica came after Florian Coldea was discharged at his request, after the investigation started by SRI following Sebastian Ghita’s revelations. The result of the investigation showed that Florian Coldea hasn’t violated the law, being proposed to take his position back as the First Deputy Director of SRI. But the institution announced that he requested to be discharged, and the decrees have been subsequently signed by Klaus Iohannis.
