Penitentiary Administration invites foreign diplomats to visit Romanian detention facilities

The National Penitentiary Administration (ANP) invites representatives of diplomatic missions to Romania to visit Romanian detention facilities.

“Amid intense interest of the public in prison detention conditions and with a view to ensuring transparency, but also in order to accurately reflect detention conditions in all the units reporting to it, ANP expresses all openness and invites the representatives of embassies and consulates in Romania to visit the Romanian prisons,” reads ANP’s invitation to the diplomatic institutions posted on Monday on its website.

According to the cited source, the interested diplomatic missions shall address a written request to the administrations of the detention facilities to establish the details of the visit.
