Shortly after the traditional event “Fabricat in Moldova” (“Made in Moldova”) was held in Chisinau, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania decided to organize a business forum in Romania, where investors operating on both sides of the Prut River participated. The event was held in Ploiesti on February 16, and the host was the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, given that the Moldovan Chamber is its main partner. Representatives of Confindustria Romania and Confeuropa Imprese were among the present officials.
On February 16, 2017, Ploiesti hosted the Business Forum “Romania-Moldova” on the subject of the Design services for systems of water supply and sewage, organized by the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the host of the event. The forum was organized in partnership with the Moldova Chamber of Commerce and industry, under the Pan-European Program called Europe Enterprise Network, in which Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a partner.
The event was really successful, considering the list of participants from the Republic of Moldova: Vitalie Colun, Deputy Manager of the Orhei Branch of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tatiana Bilba from the International Cooperation Agency of Germany, consultant for complementary support in the private sector, and Adrian Dupu – international consultant in public procurements; Nadejda Tanasov – main expert of the Public Procurement Agency, Victor Caun – Head of Project Management Service at the Regional Development and Constructions Ministry. There were also present businessmen from the Republic of Moldova as well as from Prahova, Arges, Galati and Braila counties, together with local officials, including Ludmila Sfirloaga, Vice President of the Prahova County Council, and Adrian Dobre, Ploiesti Mayor.
Also as guests, there were present the representatives of Confindustria Romania and Confeuropa Imprese, the President of the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aurelian Gogulescu, introducing them as “friends of Chisinau”. And it was no mistake by introducing them like this, given that the two Italian officials have also participated together with Aurelian Gogulescu to the recent traditional event in Chisinau – “Fabricat in Moldova”, where one of the exhibition stands for the products was specially booked for the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce, and where its joint ventures exposed their products. Besides, the presence of the representatives of the two employers’ organizations representing the Italian businessmen’s interests at the events organized by the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has an explanation.
In 2011, a cooperation protocol has been concluded between the President of the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aurelian Gogulescu, the President of Confeuropa Imprese, Calogero Campissi, and President of Confindustria Romania, Luca Serena. The document provides, among other issues, new cooperation relations to be built and the business partners to be identified in order to have a commercial and economic cooperation.
Returning to the business forum held in Ploiesti, the President of the Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated: “The presence of our guests from the Republic of Moldova makes us very happy, as always, given that, as we know, the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry is our main business partner. The business forum ‘Romania-Moldova’, now held in Ploiesti, is actually the start of this year’s actions of the Romanian-Moldovan partnership.
And this is because other events of a greater magnitude will come, in the circumstances in which a few months from now, specifically in May or June, we wish to repeat in Ploiesti the most important economic exhibition from the Republic of Moldova, from Chisinau – Fabricat in Moldova. At this event, besides dozens of Moldovan businessmen, the Vice PM of the Republic of Moldova and the Economy Minister will also be present”. In his turn, the Vice President of the Prahova County Council, Ludmila Sfirloaga underlined the necessity of the development of the economic and cultural relations between Prahova County and the districts of the Republic of Moldova, stating that there are already five twinning agreements which have been concluded.
In his turn, the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and industry of the Republic of Moldova mentioned that the Business Forum “Romania-Moldova” held in Ploiesti represents an important step in intensifying the social and economic relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, a good occasion to identify new business opportunities and to encourage investments on both sides. On the other hand, by the sessions of talks in business-to business format between the Romanian and the Moldovan companies who were present at this event, as well as by presenting new case studies on water and sewage networks, new cooperation opportunities have been created between Romania and Moldova.
