ForMin Melescanu participates in Global Coalition against Daesh ministerial meeting

Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu participates in Washington on Wednesday in the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh, an event presided by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, informs a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES.

The participants in the meeting will discuss further the topics approached by the foreign and defence ministers in the previous conference, carried out in Washington on 21 July 2016, the release points out.

According to MAE, the main goal of the meeting is aimed at evaluating the stage of the progress made in the line of stopping the Daesh actions, with a focus on the needs concerning the humanitarian assistance and the post-conflict stabilisation measures in the areas freed from under this group’s occupation.

The meeting agenda will also include topics such as the verification of the congruence between the needed and existing assistance, including from the perspective of the stabilisation process. The plenary meeting will be followed by a working lunch, headed by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

“Romania’s participation in this event presents a special importance on the line of reiterating the support for the international efforts devoted to the fight against terrorism and the stabilisation of the states in the Middle East and the North of Africa, as well as in terms of Romania’s assumed commitments,” MAE points out.
