Economy Minister Tudose talks with Ambassador of US about Sovereign Development and Investment Fund

Minister of Economy Mihai Tudose discussed with Ambassador of the US in Bucharest Hans Klemm about the Sovereign Development and Investment Fund (FSDI), according to a release of the Ministry.

According to the Economy Ministry, within the meeting the bilateral economic relations were discussed, but also the US projects in Romania such as Ford, Exxon or Bell Helicopters.

“Another topic that was tackled by the two officials referred to the Sovereign Development and Investment Fund. Minister Mihai Tudose spoke about the steps that need to be made by the Ministry he coordinates in order to start and continue the demarches regarding the creation of the FSDI, its purpose, namely the development and funding of profitable and sustainable investments in competitive sectors, by direct participation or together with institutional or private investors,” the release mentions.

The Economy Ministry mentions that the idea of establishing a sovereign investment fund for the purpose of stimulating the national economy is agreed by European and international institutions such as the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
