President Klaus Iohannis sends condolences following terror attack of Coptic churches in Egypt

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday sent a message of condolence to Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi over Sunday’s terror attacks of the Coptic churches in Tanta and Alexandria.

“I want to convey heart-felt condolences to you, the Egyptian nation and the bereaved families in the aftermath of the outrageous attacks of April 9, 2017 against the Coptic churches in Tanta and Alexandria that left at least 45 dead and more than 100 injured as they convened on Palm Sunday preceding Easter. We are extending our full compassion to the hard tested families of the victims, whom we are joining, as well as to the injured, whom we wish speedy recovery,” reads the presidential message.

The Islamic State jihadi group has claimed responsibility for the Sunday’s attacks against two Christian Orthodox churches of Egypt that left dozens dead and more than one hundred injured, according to international news agencies.
