The celebration of Passover renews the significance of freedom in contemporaneity and is yet another occasion to cultivate dialogue and tolerance, President Klaus Iohannis said in a message delivered on Monday by presidential advisor Sergiu Nistor on the occasion of the Passover Seder at the Great Synagogue in Bucharest, the Presidential Administration said in a release.
“Commemorating the freeing of the Hebrew people from slavery, the Passover renews the significance of freedom in contemporaneity. The Passover gives us the opportunity to reflect on the traditional values that unite the Hebrew people around the family and Temple, identifying its voice in the symphony of civilizations. By knowing and sharing the traditions that carry on the spirit of a millenary civilization rich in significance for all humanity, the Jewish feast of Passover is yet another opportunity to cultivate dialogue and tolerance,” reads the message.
Klaus Iohannis conveyed to Romania’s Jewish communities a heartfelt “Chag Pesach Sameach / Happy Passover!”
“On the occasion of the Passover celebration let me convey to the leadership and all the members of the Federation of Romanian Jewish Communities my best thoughts accompanied by best wishes for happiness and good cohabitation. May this feast give you the joy of communion in the spirit of prayer, solidarity and gratitude,” reads the message of the President.
