Romania-US Access agreement implementation committee convenes in extraordinary session

State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning with Romania’s Ministry of Defence (MApN) Mircea Dusa on Tuesday chaired an extraordinary session of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Implementation of the Agreement between the Governments of Romania and the United States of America concerning the U.S. Military Forces in Romania (DCA) and of the Agreement Between the United States of America and Romania on the Deployment of the United States Ballistic Missile Defense System in Romania (BMDA).

MApN says in a press statement that as chairman of the interministerial committee, Dusa emphasised the joint bilateral and multinational training exercises conducted by the Romanian and US troops this year on Romania’s soil as well as the latest developments in the projects for the construction projects under the US partnership within the agreed facilities and areas.

Presenting at the meeting were also proposals put forth by a meeting in Bucharest late this March of the Romania-US Joint Committee.

The attending officials briefed on the latest developments in the areas of their expertise in the requirements arising from the access agreement and the implementation arrangements thereof.

“The latest developments in and inter-departmental cooperation for the conduct of military exercises planned to be conducted this year on Romania’s soil to be attended by troops from NATO member and partner states were analysed at a session of the Inter-ministerial Commission on Liaison with Foreign Armies, in which taking part were officials of ministries in charge with the entry to, stationing on an transiting through Romania of foreign troops, including senior official Mircea Dusa,” says the statement.
