Romania has registered in February 2017 a negative growth of 8,308 people with respect to the natural movement of the population, compared to the same month of 2016, according to data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS), published on Monday.
According to statistics, the number of live births was lower by 603 in February 2017 compared to the same month in 2016 and the number of people who died was by 782 higher as compared to February 2016. The natural growth of the population was negative both in February 2017 (-9,693 persons), as well as in February 2016 (-8,308 persons).
The number of infants less than one year of age who died was lower by 1 in February 2017 than in February 2016.
The number of marriages in February 2017 was by 136 lower than in the same month of the previous year. Divorces under final and binding court rulings and in compliance with Law no. 202/2010 were down by 258 in February 2017 than in February 2016.
According to INS data, 13,016 child-births were registered in February 2017, by 2,080 fewer children than in January 2017.
The number of people whose deaths were registered in February 2017 was 22,709, by 6,091 fewer than in January 2017.
The natural increase was negative in February 2017, deceased people outnumbering child-births by 9,693. The number of deaths of infants under one year, recorded in February 2017 was 105, down by 55 as compared to January 2017.
According to INS, in February 2017, 5,548 marriages were registered at the civil registry, by 640 more than in January 2017. The number of divorces under final and binding court rulings and in compliance with Law no. 202/2010 was 2,433, by 1,530 more than in January 2017.
