The leader of the Save Romania Union (USR), Nicusor Dan, wrote on Facebook, on Thursday, that the coming of the Congress of the Save Romania Union “slightly begins to drive the members crazy”, the internal campaign being legitimate, but “it isn’t good when it relies on false information revealed to the public”. The MP referred to the statements made by Tudor Benga and Cristian Ghinea, which he labels as “untrue”, given that there was a debate on the party’s future.
“Unfortunately, the coming of the USR Congress slightly begins to drive us crazy”, Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook.
He referred to a post made on Wednesday by Tudor Benga and the recent statements of Cristian Ghinea, who said that the current USR leadership refuses a debate on the party’s future. “Unfortunately, this statement is an untruth” stated the USR MP.
He also said that “a clear agenda for preparing the Congress has been set in the meeting of the presidents of the county branches held on February 11”.
“In the teleconference with the presidents of the county branches held on February 28, there have been appointed the persons in charge with collecting proposals from ALL the members regarding the Statute. Until April 10, these persons in charge have systematized the proposals received from the members. On April 22, the committee of lawyers will present the national synthesis to the presidents of the county branches, who will agree the fundamental issues for which there are different views, and the Congress will decide on them. Also on April 22, other documents which will be possibly approved by the Congress outside the Statute, will be subject to debate” explained the USR President.
Nicusor Dan claimed that Tudor Benga and Cristian Ghinea “knew these things when they made the public statements”, and that the internal debate occurred.
“The internal campaign is legitimate, but it’s not good when it relies on false information sent to public. Let’s debate, not lie to one another” Nicusor Dan concluded.
